A Corrida – História em quadrinhos / Banda desenhada is a bi-lingual graphic novel (Português – English) based on Opera Modesto’s international award winning youth opera movie, A Corrida – Uma combinação de fábulas de Esopo (The Race – An Aesop’s Fables Mashup), with charming illustrations from the shooting of the film.

Starring 19 youth artists, 11-19 years old, and winner of 80 international film festival awards, A Corrida – The Race is a delightful mashup of five famous Aesop’s Fables, set to music by composer Deborah Kavasch, with lyrics by Linda Bunney-Sarhad.

The awards include Best Children & Family Film, Best Musical Film and many more.

The five Aesop’s Fables included in the film and the graphic novel:

• A Tartaruga e a Lebre – The Tortoise and the Hare
• O Urso e as Abelhas – The Bear and the Bees
• As Lebres e as Rãs – The Hares and the Frogs
• A Raposa e as Uvas – The Fox and the Grapes
• O Lobo em Pele de Cordeiro – The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

Read A Corrida – História em quadrinhos/Banda desenhada (in one or both languages), act out the stories in your own way, with your own sets and costumes.

Invent creative Reader’s Theater variations, and then rent A Corrida – The Race movie from Opera Modesto’s website with Português – English subtitles.

The music is delightful, the youth artists are engaging and when you return to the graphic novel, you will hum the tunes and recognize the characters in the illustrations as old friends.
