Some suggestions can genuinely change the course of our path. #witnesstolife2 was born just like that—from a comment on one of my posts. I had shared my latest article on Valor Investe, and a professor replied, “I use your texts a lot in my classes.

You should publish a book with them.” You know those sentences that linger—alive, yet quiet—in a corner of your mind, just waiting for the right moment to blossom? That’s exactly how it was. More than a year went by.

It was now 2024, and I looked ahead, mentally envisioning the arrival of 2025, a milestone year for us: Brazil would be hosting COP30. The COPs—UN-led climate change conferences held annually—would finally touch down in our green and yellow land, in Belém, gateway to the Amazon Rainforest.

It had been ten years since COP21, when the outstanding Paris Agreement was forged. I was there, among many kindred spirits, celebrating this important step for humanity on the Champs- Élysées.

Lost in that daydream, I realized: it had been five years of publishing biweekly pieces on my blog at Valor Investe. Opinions, reflections, lessons learned, doubts and certainties—all shaped by my over 25 years of experience in communication and sustainability. Hmmm…

Maybe compiling that content was a good idea, just as that virtual friend had suggested. But the world moves fast. I asked myself, “Will the texts I wrote from 2020 through 2024 still make sense in 2025 and beyond?” “Yes and no,” I answered in a quiet conversation with myself.

“No,” because some information may have aged or evolved. But “yes,” because documenting history always matters. The research, insights, and studies I shared are still meaningful markers of those pivotal times and trends.

So the final answer was: “Yes.” My 109 articles stand as a testimony to five rich, challenging years in sustainability—a time when ESG burst into the spotlight and, later, came under scrutiny. They deserve to live on in book form.

And so, #witnesstolife2 emerges—bringing together my work at Valor Investe from 2020 to 2024, plus fresh, current analysis. That’s the invitation right in front of you. This book, this collection, this slice of my life—and, why not, of yours too— is yours to dive into. Thank you for being here.
