Roads and Waves: A Journey Along the Coasts of Uruguay and Brazil

This book describes the motivation and details of a trip undertaken by the author along the east coast of Uruguay and Brazil, using a recreational vehicle (motorhome).

The objective was to explore and recognize cities and beaches bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, many of which the author already knew, but others were new to him.

Brazil, with its vast expanse and cultural diversity, and Uruguay, smaller in territory but rich in natural and historical beauty, offer a variety of tourist experiences.

The trip allowed the author to enjoy flexibility, without rigid schedules or the need to book hotels, in addition to saving on accommodation and food. The route included famous beaches such as Punta del Este (Uruguay) and Brazilian destinations such as Florianópolis, Balneário Camboriú and Torres, among others. Nature played a central role, with emphasis on ecosystems such as mangroves, dunes and colonies of sea lions.

In addition to the landscapes, the trip also provided cultural and gastronomic experiences, such as Uruguayan barbecue and typical Brazilian dishes, such as “barreado” in Paraná.

The historical richness was another relevant aspect, with visits to colonial cities such as Colonia del Sacramento (Uruguay) and São Francisco do Sul (Brazil), which preserve their architecture and cultural heritage.

The author also highlights activities such as surfing, diving and exploring national parks, as well as the opportunity to learn more about colonial history and the political and social transformations of the region.

The trip, therefore, was an immersion in nature, culture and history, offering an enriching experience for road lovers.
